1/05/11 Breathtaking Proposal #5

An Improv Proposal

This would require the assistance of an Improv Comedy Club like the show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” There’s one in Orlando, FL called the SAKS COMEDY LAB where Wayne Brady started his Improv career that led to being on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” with Drew Cary.

The Plan:
  • Contact the Improv Comedy Club’s event manager to see if they can do a personalized segment. I’ve seen the Comedy clubs do personalized birthday segments so a proposal segment would pretty much be the same thing.
  • Give them information about your relationship with your partner.
    • For example:
      • How the two of you met?
      • What were your first thoughts about each other?
      • How did you ask them out?
      • Where was your first date? How did it go?
      • Other special events in your relationship?
      • Details about your partner:
        • Favorite Song
        • Favorite Foods
        • Weird Obsessions
        • Pet Peeves
        • Dream Job
        • Etc.
  • Send in your payment for the segment. (Of course.)
  • Plan a special date for you and your partner.
    • You can make it seem like it’s just an ordinary casual date.
    • Or you can rent out the entire theatre for your family and friends to see too.
    • Or you can surprise your partner and pretend it’s an casual date, sit in the front seats, and have the family and friends come in from the back and surprise your partner after the show.
  • Watch the show.
  • Have the Improv actors ask for a volunteer.
  • Of course, you point to your partner and they bring them up.
  • They get “suggestions” from the crowd of the type of scene they should be playing.
  • Of course, someone shouts out that it’s a date at the very location you had your first date at.
  • Then the actors act out your date.
  • So on. So on.
  • Then the actors will ask for another volunteer and they’ll choose you.
  • They’ll do an imrpov with you and your partner where they move your body.
    • They’ll move you guys close together and will be providing the “improve” dialogue as they get you on one knee.
    • Your partner will probably be laughing at you because they think they’re humiliating you.
    • But that’s when you pop out the ring and really propose to your partner.
  • Your friends and family then stand up clapping.
  • Your partner will see them and then stare at you.
  • Then they’ll stare at the ring and fight through the tears to say YES!

NOTE: This would definitely be a great show to video tape! There are so many possibilities with this one. How great would that be to show off to your friends and family members that couldn’t be there?
