1/01/11 Breathtaking Proposal #1

New Year's Day

A new year, a new beginning to spend together rather than as boy/girl friends but perhaps as fiancé/fiancées.  A new year of FIRSTS.

This is one of my favorite types of a proposals; a scavenger hunt.

Example:
THEME: FIRSTS
·         Make arrangements for your partner to meet up with you at your house. (Or send the note to their workplace.)
o   Have a note with a beautiful outfit chosen or bought with the help of your partner’s best friend placed where your partner will easily find it. (So that the outfit is something she/he is willing to wear and appropriate for the evening’s events.)
  • The note will give them the time to meet and directions to wear the outfit, go to the location, and look for something familiar. The familiar “thing” can be a locker, table, bench, or even a friend.  (Perhaps giving them a GPS will help too.)
    • This location could be the FIRST place you met, your first date, etc.
·         It might be helpful to have ask the person in charge of that venue if it’s ok to have that area reserved for you or keep an eye out for your partner in that outfit. You could also have one of your partner’s friends be the designated familiar “thing.” The reason is because there will be another note/clue to their next location. (The friend can go with them.)
o   The note will say this is “Our “FIRST __________.”” Write something honest about how you felt that night. What your first initial thoughts of them were.
o   Then the note will continue to give them directions to the next location and look for something familiar.
·         You can decide on how many locations to go to for the following:
o   FIRST KISS, FIRST MOVIE, FIRST HOUSE, etc.
·         Have similar notes with friends or at familiar locations indicating what the locations signify and directions to their next location.
o   Keep in mind of the mileage, time of travel, traffic, etc.
·         Have the last note lead to a new location. They’ll be puzzled to what this new location signifies. (Hopefully they won’t think you got this location mixed up with an ex!)
o   This is where they’ll find you with a note.
      •  First you’ll have to fight back the fear and get the courage to convey all your heart’s love and desires for them to be a part of your life. ETC.
o   Then you hand them the note that says:
        • FIRST PROPOSAL
·         Because a partner like this is too good to be true so I promise to cherish you. I plan to put you first and plan to have many FIRSTS with you for the rest of my life…
        •   ON ONE KNEE, of course. (I’m a bit traditional in that sense.)
        •  Then pop out that beautiful rock.
        • It would be great to have a photographer at each location to photograph their reactions so that you can create a lovely video to show the family.
